About Munib
The name
Munib is a familiar Arabic given name from the root n‑w‑b — the root behind nawba (a turn), na'ib (a deputy, the one who takes another's turn) and inaba (turning back). The thread through all of them is turning: coming round, facing towards. The name does not describe the product; it describes the person it was built for — the man who turns towards the minbar every Friday and has done for years. Munib's whole job is that when he turns, meaning turns towards him.
What we do
We show what the mosque reports, translate what the khateeb says, and say where every line came from. We add nothing to the pulpit: no explanation, no ruling, no tafsir, no hadith grading.
What we hold ourselves to
- What was said, not what was written. Nothing is shown that the live audio did not support.
- Say what we do not know. A label beats a guess, every time: "computed", "not confirmed by this mosque", "beta", "[unclear]".
- Nothing about you. No worshipper identity, ever.
- The same on every pulpit. No sect field, no commentary, no recommended mosques.
- Inherit, attribute, never imply. Ministry data is credited on every page, with no emblem and no co-branded lockup.
- Every script is a first language. Arabic equals English; Urdu, Bengali and Devanagari each get their own face and their own metrics.
What we do not build, and why
Machine religious answers, tafsir, hadith grading, a sect field, worshipper accounts, server-side location, advertising, data partners, paid mosque tiers, in-app donations, and an archive of khutbahs. Each has a reason recorded in our documents, not just a preference.
