The Department of Financial Services will be at the Yonkers Public Library this weekend to help residents with insurance claims related to damage from Ida.
Gov. Kathy Hochul told News 12 Friday that she believes more than $30 million in damage was done from the storm, but an exact estimate is not yet known.
President Joe Biden approved an emergency disaster declaration for 14 counties in New York that could trigger some federal help is on the way.
Those at the Yonkers Public Library are helping people get an assessment of damage, property loss and generally guide individuals through paperwork and what is needed to get assistance.
Hochul says the goal is to get people’s lives back to as close to normal as possible as quickly as possible.
There is no exact timeline as to when people can expect to get some financial relief with insurance claims.
